Carpet flooring in Wakefield

Even in homes with wood-effect floors downstairs, carpet still wins for bedrooms, stairs and cosy lounges. We'll help you choose one that sits well with the rest of the house.

Where carpet earns its place

Warm, quiet and soft underfoot

Carpet keeps rooms warmer, deadens noise between floors and is kinder to bare feet first thing in the morning. That's why so many people who put laminate or LVT downstairs still carpet the stairs, landing and bedrooms.

When we visit, we'll bring carpet samples alongside the hard floors you're considering, so you can check the colours work together at the bottom of the stairs or across a doorway.

The main styles, briefly

Twist

Hard-wearing and good at hiding footprints. A dependable choice for lounges, landings and stairs.

Saxony

Taller, softer pile for bedrooms and rooms where comfort comes first.

Loop and Berber

Flat, textured and tough — suits hallways, stairs and busy family homes.

Bleach-cleanable polypropylene

Stain resistant and easy to clean, for homes with pets, children or tenants.

Carpet questions

Can I carpet the bedrooms and lay a hard floor downstairs?

Absolutely, and it's one of the most common plans we quote for. Our Silver, Gold and Platinum full house deals cover carpet and vinyl together, and we can price laminate for the downstairs rooms on the same visit.

What carpet is simplest to look after?

Polypropylene can be cleaned with a diluted bleach solution, which makes spills much less stressful. Nylon is also very durable, keeps its texture well and responds well to steam cleaning.

Does underlay make much difference?

A lot. Good underlay improves comfort, warmth and sound insulation, and can extend a carpet's life by up to 50%. It's included free on our Silver (8mm), Gold (9mm) and Platinum (11mm) deals.
